Amy Smart has been a model, actress and former American. The modeling career she began with was in Italy, where she was raised and was born in California. In 1996, she made her debut as an actor in the TV movie Her Costly Affair. It took some time to get her into Starship Troopers in a smaller character. It was difficult for her to transition from modeling to acting since the models were never considered to be good actors and tended to be given smaller and inconsequential parts. Amy did not give up and eventually she landed bigger parts in the movies Varsity Blues and The 70s. She then ventured into the lead roles in the 2005 romantic comedy Just Friends which also starred Ryan Reynolds. Amy gained recognition after more than 10 years working. Amy continued to make significant films like the Crank series with Jason Statham and the series Shameless where she played a well loved recurring character.
