Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It was the top streamed song at the period within the space of six months. It was a combination of reggaeton and pop that attracted attention to Latin Music but also reggaeton. In 2015 there were two predominantly Spanish-speaking songs in Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017, however, 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it into the Top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 such songs. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) well-known artists began to collaborate with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna with Maluma on Medellin (2019). From the beginning of 2020, a few reggaeton artists protested that it was moving towards the more mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a part of a new generation of musicians who are determined to shift the course. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music, and other styles was a common method.
